The WSOP 2010 Main Event is officially the 2nd biggest live poker tournament of all time beating last years attendance of 6,494 players registered. The final figures have not yet been calculated but so far there have been more players registered than last years event, the worldwide rescission seems to have not affected the main event registration.

The biggest attendance was recorded at the 2006 WSOP which had 8,773 players entering the main event, the biggest live poker event in the world. That year the prize pool was a staggering $82,512,162 and the event was won by Jamie Gold who won more than $12 million for his first place finish.

The 24 year old Peter Eastgate, best known as the winner of the 2008 WSOP main event has decided to quit live poker tournaments professionally as he opts for a more relaxed lifestyle.

Peter’s world championship win in 2008 alone earned him USD $9.15 million he has since racked up a substantial amount in tournament winnings over the last few years however the demands on elite poker pros which include a vigorous schedule, exercise, travel, mental fatigue and energy have taken a toll on the WSOP 2008 winner from Odense, Denmark who has decided to take an indefinite break from live tournament poker.

Great news for French poker players, today both PartyPoker and PokerStars announced the launch of their legal poker rooms as both have been issued a license for France.
Access for french players to PartyPoker.com and PokerStars.com will no longer be available to players, in order to comply with the new online gaming law in France.

The great news is that french poker players can now play from the .fr domains of these top poker brands legally.
