November Nine WSOP 2009 Updates – Only 27 players remain after day 7 after surviving a field of 6,494 players, they will all battle it out for the final table which only sees the Top 9 (November Nine) competing for the WSOP 2009 main event bracelet and title.

Phil Ivey is sitting in fifth place and still in the running for his 3rd bracelet this year, although chip leader Darvin Moon seems untouchable at this point sitting with more than 20 million chips going in to Day 8 of the World Series of Poker 2009.

WSOP 2009 Highlights, Day 6 only 185 players remaining, chip leader with 4,872,000 chips is South African player Warren Zackey from the All Africa Poker and Piggs Peak Casino Team.

Other notable  poker pros still in the running is Phil Ivey playing for his 3rd WSOP bracelet this year, Peter Eastgate still holding strong and Joe Hachem.

In the 40 years of the WSOP there has always been a top heavy payout structure which paid the top places really well. In fact the first few main events of the World Series of Poker only paid first place leaving runners up with nothing.

Being the biggest live event in the history of poker, the payout structure made it almost impossible for poker players to finish in the money in the WSOP Main Event. This year the WSOP payout structure will be very similar to what the online poker rooms use.

The 40th Anniversary of the World Series of poker is well underway with the first event being the Casino Employees tournament which started on Wednesday but the real news is the $40,000 Event #2 of the WSOP 2009.

The $40,000 No Limit Hold’em special tournament got underway this Thursday with a total of 201 entrants the $40,000 buy in was designated to highlight the World Series’ 40th year anniversary and has managed to attract a poker star studded tournament, the tournament itself will be conducted over four days with a slow blind structure and deep stacks of 120,000 for starters event, slowed down the structure and gave players plenty of chips to play with. The $40k NLHE will be one of only four WSOP events aimed for broadcast on television by ESPN next summer.
