Danish 22 year old Peter Eastgate has won the WSOP title for 2008 as well as the youngest winner of the main event since Phil Hellmuth. Eastgate managed to beat Ivan Demidov heads up at the final table winning over $9 million.
Eastgate played 104 hands against Russian Demidov. In the final hand Eastgate limped in and Demidov checked and the flop revealed K-3-2

The World Championship of Online Poker 2008 has been announced by PokerStars the big daddy of online poker tournaments the WCOOP 2008, after the huge success the last event had even though it was surrounded by some controversy, satellites to the main event will be running all summer with satellite qualifiers starting from as little as $2.20 and from just 100 FPP’s there will be multi table satellites, Sit n Go satellites as well as Step qualifiers.
The latter of which are already up and running. MTT satellites are scheduled to begin on 6 July after the Sunday Million event.
The (WCOOP) PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker is set to return September 2008 and carries along with it massive guaranteed prize pool of $30,000,000 (thirty million dollars) doubling the prize from the previous year dubbing the event the biggest online poker tournament series in the world ever.
A total 33 events will be held including Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, Razz, HORSE, 2 7 Draw. Each event carries it’s own guarantee prize pool with many of the more popular games reaching in excess of $2,000,000.
