The pilot episode of Underground Poker airs on the Discovery Channel this Wednesday and features poker hosts Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak.

The classic team of poker pros search for the biggest Underground Poker games around the World with the hopes of playing high stakes poker home games.

The Underground Poker TV show will focus more on the characters they meet along the way, with no scripted or staged content. It won’t be the regular format that normally features many televised poker hands and statistics for poker enthusiasts.

PokerStars The Big Game High Stakes Poker TV Show returns with Week 4 and the latest qualifying Loose Cannon Troy Howard is up against a tough field of Poker pros which include Barry Greenstein, Antonio Esfandiari, Chau Giang, David Peat and Rick Rahim. The Loose Cannon is staked $100k and must survive 150 hands after which any profit made is theirs to keep.

Well known poker pro Phil Laak has gone on to set a new Guinness World Record at Bellagio for the official longest single continuous session of poker ever recorded. The previous record was held by Paul Zimbler a British poker pro which was set last year at 78 hours, 45 minutes and 41 seconds while the official Guinness World Record was recorded as 72 hours and 2 minutes held formally held by Larry Olmsted. Phil Laak was permitted a 5 minute break per hour, but at he times choose to skip the breaks and continue playing at the $10/$20 No-Limit Hold’em at the Bellagio Poker Room in Las Vegas.

According to Laak, he has always wanted to hold a Guinness world record ever since he read the record book in high school he went on to comment that “This has been a wonderful Journey”.

Fans of GSN’s popular high stakes poker show will be pleased to hear that plans are underway to begin the recording of a new season of the series, with new episodes of High Stakes Poker season 6 being taped from the beginning of October through to November in Las Vegas once key players return from WSOPE and EPT scheduled events.
