guinness world record poker tournament - PokerStars have broken the Guinness World Record for the largest online poker tournament twice in one year. In July 2009 Full Tilt Poker made an attempt to beat the PokerStars December 2008 record (35,000 players), by hosting a 50,000 capped tournament with a $5 buy-in. Poker Stars held a $1 tournament on the same day which had a 65,000 maximum player limit both tournaments were full before starting time.

On the 27th December 2009 PokerStars made another attempt and hosted a uncapped tournament with a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool. The tournament had a staggering 149,196 players registered, a drastic improvement of more than double their previous Guinness World Record.
