wsop player of the year 2016WSOP Player of the Year 2016 Jason Mercier tops the leaderboard at the halfway point of the World Series of Poker having won two bracelets from four final table appearances and cashing five times.

He currently tops the 2016 WSOP POY standings with a 262.7 point lead on Ryan Laplante who is just a few points ahead of multi-bracelet winner Ian Johns.

Mercier’s hot streak has earned him a total of $907,818 from his five WSOP cashes. This is only half the amount of what he could get from his $1.8 million three bracelet prop-bet with Vanessa Selbst.

His sheer determination to win three WSOP bracelets this year will no doubt keep him on top of the leaderboard for the rest of the series if he continues on this sick run.

WSOP Player of the Year 2016

phil ivey 9 wsop braceletPhil Ivey denied 9th WSOP Bracelet in the 2012 WSOP Event 24 Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better at the 43rd World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Final Table players included some of top players in the game: Mike Matusow, Scotty Nguyen, Joe Cassidy and Bart Hanson.

Phil Ivey was eliminated in 3rd place leaving Joe Cassidy vs Scotty Nguyen heads-up at the end of Day 3.

Ivey missed his 9th bracelet again after being denied victory earlier this week when he was heads-up with Andy Frankenberger in Event 17: Pot-Limit Hold’em. Phil Ivey is on fire at the 2012 World Series of Poker after boycotting the series in 2011 after Black Friday/Full Tilt Poker where players funds were seized.

The Tiger Woods of Poker misses another opportunity to add a non-holdem bracelet to his collection, but he currently leads the 2012 WSOP player of the year leaderboard in points.

Phil Ivey would have increased his WSOP bracelet earnings lead to 4th place sharing the position with Johnny Moss.
