The countdown to 2010 has began and I’m still wandering where the year has gone, but 2009 was a good year for poker. There were many new records and achievements like the youngest player to win the World Series of Poker, the largest online poker pot and tournament. Phil Ivey makes it to the November Nine after winning his 7th WSOP bracelet.

PokerStars have broken the Guinness World Record for the largest online poker tournament twice in one year. In July 2009 Full Tilt Poker made an attempt to beat the PokerStars December 2008 record (35,000 players), by hosting a 50,000 capped tournament with a $5 buy-in. Poker Stars held a $1 tournament on the same day which had a 65,000 maximum player limit both tournaments were full before starting time.

On the 27th December 2009 PokerStars made another attempt and hosted a uncapped tournament with a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool. The tournament had a staggering 149,196 players registered, a drastic improvement of more than double their previous Guinness World Record.

The WSOP 2010 tournament schedule has been released. The 2010 World Series of Poker will be the 41st WSOP which is set to start on May 27th, 2010 scheduled through until the 9th November, 2010.

The 2010 WSOP will offer 57 WSOP bracelets and is set to begin with the Casino Employees No Limit Hold’em event on May 28th. The World Series of Poker 2010 schedule is set to end November 9th, when the main event winner is declared.

The main event is scheduled to begin on July 5th, 2010 with Day 1 A. July 17th marks the date when final table participants will be finalized at which stage the WSOP have opted for a “November Nine” finalists table in 2010 once again, where the nine finalists will compete for the coveted main event title 6th-9th November 2010.

There are a number of changes that have been made by the WSOP in 2010:

-$50k HORSE championship has been removed and substituted by a $50K “Player’s Championship” (Event #2) featuring 8 different games.
-$10K HORSE Championship scheduled for (Event #43)
-$25K 6-handed NLHE event added to the schedule (Event #52)

Other notable changes set for the 2010 running of the WSOP include more poker tables being added as well as changes in the assignment of starting days to the main event after a certain date.

Isildur1 was on a winning streak for about a month in November peaking to more than 5 million dollars profit from playing high stakes poker games on Full Tilt Poker against Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Brian Townsend and David Benyamine. Around the 24th November his bankroll was falling into the negative.

He then started to make a recovery until he played Brian Hastings and lost more than four million dollars playing $500/$1,000 Pot Limit Omaha which is the most amount of money ever won playing poker online in one session. This put Isildur1’s bankroll to more than two million dollars in the red till he played Durrrr and Brian Townsend where he recover by winning more than one and a half million dollars against his opponents.

Isildur1’s bankroll then took a huge fall down to $-2,139,064 after playing Brian Townsend and Brian Hastings on Tuesday. Will Isildur1 recover from this huge loss or will he just disappear unnamed without anyone knowing who he is.
